I was first introduced to air purifiers several years ago. We had a cat that had severe asthma. We never could figure out what triggered her asthma, but she was more likely to have attacks in the colder months compared to the warmer months.
To help our fur baby breath better, we added an air purifier to the living room. We can’t say for sure how much it helped her, but we would do anything for our pets. So it gave us peace of mind knowing that we were doing all we could for her. Of course what we (meaning me and my human family – ha ha) breath is important too.
Sadly that air purifier stopped working. We tried to fix it but to no avail. We ended up tossing it and not purchasing another one because she passed away not long after from a heart condition.
I tend to get pneumonia and bronchitis a lot. It wasn’t until a few months ago that a Pulmonologist said that it’s not so much that, but possibly asthma, that is causing me to have weeks were I can’t stop coughing. He put me on a regime of taking an inhaler twice a day, every day. I also have an emergency inhaler.
This diagnosis had me thinking about getting another air purifier. I’m not sure what triggers it. Between dust (I do clean), pet dander (we have eight cats), and the outside elements (pollen and dust that gets kicked up from the parking lot), it can be anything.
I was sent to review an air purifier from the brand Provirtec. They sent me to review their ClearBreathe Smart Air Purifier to review. This air purifier might be tiny, but don’t let it’s size fool you. It’s a little power house.
Some key features with the Provirtec ClearBreathe Smart Air Purifier include;
- Real-Time Air Quality Visualization
- 5-Stage Filtration for Deeper Air Purification
- 365-Day Filter Life Saves You Money
- 360° Whole-Home Fresh Air for Healthy Life
- Lowe-Noise Quiet Sleep Mode
- Multi-Functional to Suit Various Needs
- Specification Met Energy Star Certified, FCC Certified, EPA Certified, CARB Certified
One of the features that I really liked is that the filters can last 365 days with normal use. The air purifier we had before had to had the filter replaced every few months. We even tried to clean it ourselves, but that only messed it up. Right there it’s a cost effective product.
We have it set up in the living room. It’s ideal for a 200 square foot room (probably the typical bedroom size). We’re not 100% sure of the square footage of the living room, but seeing as how our entire home is 900 square feet, we doubt it’s more than 200 square feet.
This air purifier is SO QUIET! I often forget we even have one. Even as night we don’t hear it, which is ideal for sleeping.
The only time we hear the purifier is when it picks up something in the air. Every now and then it will pick up something in the air from when we cooking (the kitchen is next to the living room), usually if we fry something (smoke that we can’t see perhaps?). Oddly enough, it can also pick up something in the air when we clean the litter boxes (also in the near by kitchen). I’m guessing it’s pick up invisible dust from the litter. Hearing how this little machine kicks into gear when that happens concerns me on how much we breathe in that we are not aware of. Thank you Provirtec for making us aware of that.
I like that it not only displays the air quality on top, but also with a colored light.
- Blue – Very good
- Green – Good
- Orange – Moderate
- Red – Poor
It’s mostly blue, and occasionally green. It only turns red if we burn something in the kitchen, or the aforementioned cleaning the litter boxes. Not only that, you can hear it when the air quality if poor (it’s still not very loud).
Our old purifier brought in air from the front, but this one sucks in the air all the way around. I feel like this way is much more reliable.
There is an app you can download to let you control every aspect of this purifier from the comfort of your couch or bed. That is another handy feature.
This air purifier is also budget friendly. I see it’s currently listed on Amazon for only $62.99. That is a small price to pay to ensure that the air you and your family is taking in is clean and healthy.
I’m impressed. I’m so glad that I received this air purifier to review.
