I have been trying to eat more healthy these days. I’m not necessarily on a “diet,” simply because I HATE that word. Not only that, I have been obese my entire life. I’m over and done with diets, weight loss programs, and similar things. Instead I am making healthier for me food choices.
I need to lose four more pounds to weigh less than I have in 29 years (no kidding!). I hope I can do it, and lose even more. My goal is to weigh what I did when my husband and I first started dating. I was still overweight, but not obese. I also thought I looked decent. I’ll never be a skinny person, and I’m okay with that.
I have also been eating healthier because I want to lower my A1C to reduce the medications I need to take daily. I take Metformin twice a day, and Ozempic once a week (Ozempic for diabetes – not weight loss).
Even my eye doctor said I need to get my A1C down more for my eye health.
To be honest, I’m tired of feeling sluggish and low energy too. I know if I make better food choices that can help too.
I have a sweet tooth. I’m not into candy, but I do LOVE chocolate. I have been eating really dark cocoa because I heard it was good for heart health. Plus I’ll eat less because the sweeter the chocolate, the more I’ll want to eat it.
I also enjoy cookies and the occasional ice cream. I have been avoiding them all together.
Sometimes I crave something other than something sweet. Sometimes I want something savory, like tortilla chips and salsa, or an everything bagel.
If you are looking to eat better and perhaps curb any cravings you have for savory foods, let me introduce you to SVRY Nutrition (yes, it’s spelled that way).
SVRY Nutrition makes savory performance nutrition that tastes like food. The brand’s kitchen-crafted products include savory protein bars and ready-to-mix protein drinks featuring high-quality ingredients and authentic flavors, giving today’s consumers a variety of products they’ll crave.
SVRY Nutrition offers consumers a line of protein bars that are unlike other protein bars I have ever tried. These are definitely more like a meal than a “snack.” Every time I’ve had one I am full for a very long time, which is a good thing when you are trying to eat better.
Each SVRY Nutrition bar contains 22-24 grams of protein which is great for people like me who don’t get enough protein during the day. I’m not a vegetarian, but I’m not a big meat eater either. In addition they also have 7 grams of fiber, which is another important thing I don’t get enough of daily.
Currently the available flavors are;
- Cheddar & Chive
- Cheddar & Jalapeno
- Parmesan & Black Pepper
- Tomato & Basil
- Whole Grain
I was sent some SVRY Nutrition bars to try out for myself. In addition I received some of their protein drink mixes (more on that later in this post).
As I stated earlier, then bars are a meal. They are thick, but in a good way. I pair these with an 8 ounce glass of water and I am good to go for many hours without feeling hungry at all.
Out of the flavors I received to review, I really enjoyed the Parmesan & Black Pepper and Tomato & Basil flavors. I’m not a fan of anything with Jalapeno in it, so I let my son have it. He said it was “okay.” He’s a man of few words anyway… ha ha.
The bars are not bad at all. They might be an acquired taste for some. The first few bites I was a bit “iffy,” but after I ate me they grew on me. I’m also not one to eat protein bars, except those chocolate ones.
These are NOT sweet or cookie-like. It’s hard to explain. They are like a biscuit, like the kind you’d get at a restaurant. Hopefully that makes sense.
These bars have no added sugar, and are decent with the fats too. The carbs are a bit higher than I’d like because I do have diabetes, but eating these bars has not effected my glucose levels in a negative way, so that’s good.
SVRY Nutrition also offers protein drink mixes. They currently have two options – Columbian Coffee and Rooibos Latte. In addition they have a Bone Broth mix.
I received both the coffee and tea to try out.
Personally I wasn’t a fan of the coffee. I’m very picky about coffee. I tend to go for darker coffee, or a strong cold brew. This coffee is not bad, it’s just not a favorite of mine.
The Rooibos Latte is really good. I love this drink mix. Best of all, you don’t have to mix in any additional protein powder. If you gave this to someone to drink they would probably never guess that it contains 20 grams of protein.
Both of these drink mixes are for cold water. I would have loved to see a hot coffee (darker brew) option.
Ideally I’d love to have a SVRY bar in the AM and the Rooibos Latte in the PM. That is a easy and delicious way to get a whopping 40 grams of protein into my diet every day.
The only downside is that the cost might not be “budget friendly” for some people (myself included, sadly). I don’t normally buy protein bars, but I do know that generally they are a bit pricey. These bars might be aligned with the average protein bar cost. I’m not sure. I did check random protein bars and they appear to cost (on average) $3.00+ each anyway.
They do offer a subscription option. They can have the products delivered on your schedule, which is nice.
The brand does offer a “tasting box” which includes one of all five flavors of the protein bars. They also have a “full tasting box” which also includes the coffee, tea and bone broth. I like that they give you these options so you can try them out before committing to specific flavors.
