Making it’s way to digital platforms such as Prime Video, Apple TV and Fandango at Home, is the classic Western film, Tombstone in 4K.
Tombstone stars a plethora of amazing talent including Kurt Russell, Val Kilmer, Sam Elliott, Bill Paxton, Dana Delany, Jason Priestley, Powers Booth, Billy Bob Thornton, Billy Zane, Michael Rooker and Thomas Haden Church, to name a few. This film literally has an all-star cast. That alone I find amazing. How in the world did the film makers get all these great actors in one film. Wow.
Every town has a story — Tombstone has a legend. Experience the explosive, action-packed battle on 4K Ultra HD. U.S. Marshall Wyatt Earp (Kurt Russell), his brothers (Sam Elliott, Bill Paxton) and the outrageous Doc Holliday (Val Kilmer) band together to bring law to the lawless in a notorious showdown at the O.K. Corral. The star-studded cast also includes Dana Delany, Jason Priestley and Michael Biehn in an epic story of Wild West justice.
I have heard of this film before, but admittedly I never saw it. Not until now that is.
When I was a young girl I actually watched a lot of Western films. John Wayne was one of my favorite actors (we also share a birthday – just not the same year). You can’t beat classics like How the West Was Won and True Grit (the original).
I can’t remember the last time I watched a Western film. I’ve watched films sort of in that time frame (last 1800’s), but nothing specifically with cowboys, gunfights and the lawlessness of some of the people during that time.
I’m kicking myself for not watching this movie sooner. Wow. Simply wow. What an fantastic film.
The acting is stupendous. I think Val Kilmer stood out the most to me. It’s a shame he had health issues and past away.
My husband make a comment about how Sam Elliott is perfect for such a film with his iconic mustache. In Tombstone most of the actors had those huge mustaches.
I also think that Kurt Russell did a fantastic job. He showed his versatility between being tough and shooting at bad guys, to sweet moments with Dana Delany where he seemed more like himself (in character).
I love how the film makers made extra certain that this film had an authentic film. By that I mean the buildings, clothing, furniture… it all looks like it was plucked straight out of the late 1800’s. This also applies to the lawlessness at the time. Back then gun fights were common. I can’t imagine something like that happening today (with the exception of gang fights).
I also loved the cinematography. I especially loved the scene where Wyatt Earp first met Josephine. The background/wilderness and running the horses through the woods was beautiful.
I will admit I don’t really know much about the names Doc Holiday, Wyatt Earp, and the OK corral. I mean, I’ve heard of them, but never knew the connection until now.
Even if you are not a fan of Westerns, I would recommend you give this one a try. You might be pleasantly surprised. I sure was.
Look for Tombstone 4K on Amazon Prime, Fandango at Home and Apple TV.
